AAC Congress is high-yielding durum wheat variety with superior end-use qualities and some drought resistance.
According to the 2018 Alberta seed guide, AAC Congress is 104% of Strongfield's yield and is the top yielder (109% of Strongfield) on low yield (dryland) areas. Slightly shorter than Strongfield but with fair straw strength, we see AAC Congress as good choice for dryland durum. In addition, Congress offers:
- Low DON accumulation
- Low semolina ash and grain cadmium content
- High pigment concentration.
We just added AAC Congress to our farm last year and added it as an alternative to AC Transcend due to it's higher yield potential. We believe that AAC Congress will be a successful choice for durum growers in southern Alberta and Saskatchewan.
