If you have been waiting for the latest and greatest 2 row forage/feed barley, THIS IS IT! We jokingly say that "It's not your dad's barley!" because not only does it hit it out of the park with forage yields but, unlike previous 2 row forage barleys like Cowboy and Maverick, it has excellent grain yields AND with its smooth awn, it is easier on herd health for swath grazing etc.

Grain yield 116% of CDC Cowboy or CDC Maverick, similar to CDC Austenson
Hight 10 cm shorter than CDC Cowboy
Better forage quality than CDC Cowboy (lower ADF, NDF, and higher protein)
Well-suited for dry areas or low input production
We grew Renegade on irrigation this year to maximize seed production and were impressed with its yields. While it is best suited to dryland because of its straw strength, it can be grown under irrigation with a growth regulator and water management.
