CDC Blazer is a new high yielding maple pea variety with a light seed coat.
Developed by the Crop Development Centre at the University of Saskatchewan, CDC Blazer maple peas are a newer maple pea variety with a higher yield than the other maple peas, yielding similar to CDC Amarillo yellow peas.
Strengths:
The maple pea market is a fairly small niche market so we encourage people to approach the market cautiously. However, demand has been quite strong over the last few years for maple peas. There are a number of varieties out there in the market and some are in more demand than others. Blazer peas are not quite as marketable as some of the other older varieties but they are still a marketable variety and have better yield than other older varieties.
Our recommendation is to not seed maple peas without a production contract for the crop & variety. Talk to us for pointers on contracting production.
