This small red lentil has a seed size that is just slightly larger than CDC Maxim. Impulse lentils will out yield Maxims in the traditional lentil growing areas of Saskatchewan and are Clearfield tolerant.
CDC Impulse is a high yielding CL® small red lentil. Compared to CDC Maxim, CDC Impulse yields 107% in the brown and dark brown soil zones (Saskatchewan) and 100% in the black and dark gray zones (Saskatchewan) (Per Sask Pulse Growers - Varieties of Grain Crops 2021). This variety is taller than CDC Maxim, and has larger and more plump seed, which is better for dehulling. Growers need to sign a Clearfield Stewardship Grower Agreement.
