CDC Durango Feed Barley - Just released for Spring 2025!

SeCan | Technical Bulletin | Performance Data

We are excited to launch CDC Durango. This is the CDC Austenson replacement that we have been waiting for!

CDC Durango is a very high yielding 2-row feed barley with short strong straw. Through coop
registration trials, CDC Durango averaged 107% of CDC Austenson for grain yield potential and showed
superior lodging tolerance. CDC Durango is the CDC Austenson replacement we’ve been waiting for and
should perform well in all barley growing regions of western Canada.

Parentage: Claymore/CDC Austenson

CDC Durango is proving to be a top yielding 2 row feed barley on either irrigation or dryland. Its straw strength and short stature helps it with standability under irrigation and its yield potential is very similar to Esma Barley which has been our top yielder for the last few years.

Benefits:

  • Yield 106% of CDC Austenson and 112% of AAC Synergy
  • Excellent straw strength, better than CDC Austenson
  • 2 cm shorter than CDC Austenson
  • Resistant to surface born smut
  • Moderately Resistant to net form net blotch

xxxx

Looks like a very nice high yielding variety.
