We sell a robust forage pea variety called CDC Leroy which was developed by the Crop Development Centre University of Saskatchewan (Dr. Tom Warkentin).

We like CDC Leroy forage peas because they are a semi-leafless leaf type, with moderate vine length, and better standability than Trappers or 40-10 forage peas. They produce as much or more biomass than the long-vine, weak stem varieties like Trapper and 40-10 forage peas, while at the same time they are much easier to harvest, and less prone to fungal disease development in the canopy. Leroy peas have a tough seed coat and can be handled in mixes with less chance of damaging the peas' germination potential.

CDC Leroy have seeds with yellow cotyledons and white flowers. They are one of the smallest size forage peas currently available( just slightly larger than 40-10 peas). Because their seed size is small, they can be seeded at a lower seeding rate thus keeping the cost down to add forage peas to a forage mix.
