We recommend seed treatment on your purchase of wheat or barley. Seed treatments contain a fungicide or several fungicides that will control a wide range of diseases. Common seed diseases in Alberta are rots, bunts, smuts and blights. Seed treatment ensures your investment in seed pays off by protecting from these common diseases. Seed treatment also helps to protect your seed if you are seeding under less than ideal conditions. For example: colder soil delays crops establishment and gives seed and soil born diseases an opportunity to infect the plant. A seed treatment will protect the plant from many seed and possibly some soil born diseases in these slow growing conditions.

Raxil MD: is a Bayer product that provides the broad-spectrum disease protection your cereal crops needs. We generally recommend Raxil MD as a seed treatment on Barley because of the control it provides for loose smut.

Dividend XL RTA:is a Syngenta product that shields your wheat, barley, oats, rye and triticale from early season seed- and soil-borne disease attack.

Cruiser 350 FS (High Rate): is a Syngenta product that we combine with Dividend XL RTA to provide a broad spectrum disease protection and the insecticide protection of Cruiser which protects against wireworms. We apply Cruiser at the high rate because it provides the most effective wireworm protection.
