CDC Meredith - New for 2012! New high yielding malt barley variety just released for 2012. This variety should outyield either Metcalfe or Copeland in the field and has lower protein levels which makes it more likely to achieve malt status. Malt testing comparisons between the malt barley varieties indicate that CDC Meredith should be well received by the malt industry due to its ability to make more beer per tonne of barley used.
We have had excellent feedback on this 2 row malt barley. It yields very well in the field, and provides a plump sample and exceptional germination (both valuable attributes to malters). In fact, according to Secan, CDC Copeland is now the second most popular malting variety in Western Canada and occupies 15% of the acreage and 20% of the tonnage selected for malting. In fact, reports say CDC Copeland experienced the highest selection rate among all the two-row malting barley varieties grown in western Canada in 2006.
The most widely selected malt barley in Southern Alberta and Western Canada. This two-row variety is well proven in Southern Alberta with a number of our customers selling their malt barley straight off of the combine. Please note that due to the amount of cross border paperwork involved we will only ship truckload quantities (minimum 100 bushels - 4800 lbs) of malt barley to the USA. |
