This is a hands-on operational role that requires attention to detail, mechanical experience and seed knowledge:
First and foremost, this individual will be responsible for cleaning seed lots in our seed cleaning plant. This involves setting the seed cleaning equipment, monitoring seed cleaning in progress, monitoring bin levels, recording seed cleaning logs, scale tickets, and other cleaning records in seed lot files, ensuring the seed plant equipment is thoroughly cleaned out between seed lots and ensuring seed quality standards are adhered to throughout the cleaning process.
Secondly, this individual will deal directly with customers during seed season including: weighing customer trucks before loading, running the auger and seed treating equipment to load seed onto customer trucks, and weighing customer trucks after loading. Seed season is a busy time and requires someone who can handle a busy demanding job and can communicate in a friendly professional manner with customers.
Minimum requirements: Must be able to:
• read/write/speak english
• have previous mechanical operational experience e.g. farm or mill equipment experience
• have own transportation - seed plant is located 17 miles SE of Taber
• have demonstrated attention to detail and ability to work well with others on past jobs
• be willing to work quickly under pressure during seed season (March - May)
• be able to work in grain dust environment without allergic reactions
Salary & Benefits:
- Competitive salary dependent on experience, overtime (after 44 hours per week).
- Blue Cross medical benefits (after 3 months of service).
- Vacation Pay 4% (equivalent of 2 weeks/year paid vacation)
- Has the option of taking an additional 2 weeks unpaid vacation during summer months for a maximum of 4 weeks off during summer - if this is desired by the individual
- Depending on housing availability - may be able to provide very reasonable rental rates on company owned housing.
